Author's preview to the DESERT ROSE book: |
|
Sting, one of the most talented pop composers in the world, was my main idea to write this book. He has been unique since he was a member of the Police band and now as an independent composer and performer. To me, Sting’s jazzy mood, very intelligent musicality, perfect dynamic ranges, and virtuosity in vocal performance with his talented lyrics, has turned Sting to a super star. A perfect satisfied musician who can be studied by other music professionals. In this book I translated some of his lyrics to Farsi, wrote my points about his works, I made a multi media CD in which there are eigh scores of Sting, to be analyzed by composers, and finding golden cues of his works. I received beautiful feedbacks from the readers of the book and I hope this book be worthy to read! Despite my search through the web, I could not find any direct link to Sting to report him about his Fans in Iran. I wish I could someday!

Fragile
[Em]If blood will flow when flesh[Am] and steel are one Dry[D]ing in the color of the [Em]evening sun
[Em]Tomorrow's rain will [Am]wash the stains away
But [D]something in our [B7]minds will always st[Em]ay
[Em]Perhaps this final act was meant
To[Am] clinch a lifetime's argument
That [D]nothing comes from violence
and [Em]nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry [Am]star
Le[D]ts we forget how [B7]fragile we are[Em]
[Am]On and on the [Em]rain will fall
Like [C]tears from a [Em]star
like[C] tears from a [Em]star
[Am]On and on the [Em]rain will say
How fra[C]gile we [Em]are

[Am]On and on the [Em]rain will fall

Heavy Cloud, No Rain
{Am6} Turned on the weather man just after the news {Bm7/A} I needed {Am6} sweet rain to wash away my blues {Bm7/A} {Am6} He looked at the chart but he looked in vain {Bm7/A} {Am6} Heavy cloud but no rain
{Am6} Back in the time with Louis XVI {Bm7/A} At the {Am6} court of the people he was number one {Bm7/A} He'd be the {Am6} bluest blood they'd ever seen {Bm7/A} When the {Am6} king said hi to the guillotine {Cm6} The royal astrologer was run out of breath He thought that {E7#9} maybe the rain would postpone his death {Bb13} {Am6} He look in the sky but he look in vain {Bm7/A} {Am6} Heavy cloud but no rain
{Am6} Well the land was cracking and the river was dry {Bm7/A} All the {Am6} crops were dying when they ought to be high {Bm7/A} So to {Am6} save his farm from the banker's draft {Bm7/A} The farmer {Am6} took out a book on some old witchcraft {Cm6} He made a spell and a potion on a midsummer's night He killed a {E7#9} brindled calf in the pale moonlight {Bb13} {Am6} He prayed to the sky but he prayed in vain {Bm7/A} {Am6} Heavy cloud but no rain
The {Cmaj7} sun won't {D} shine till the {Am7} clouds are {D} gone The {Am7} clouds won't {Bm7} go till their {Cmaj7} work is {D} done {Cm6} And every morning you'll hear me pray {E7#9} If only it would rain today {Bb13}
{Am6} I asked my baby if there'd be some way {Bm7/A} She said she'd {Am6} save her love for a rainy day {Bm7/A} {Am6} I look in the sky but I look in vain {Bm7/A} {Am6} Heavy cloud but no rain
I’m So Happy I Can’t Stop Crying
( II capo)
(E) Seven weeks have passed now (B) since she left me, (C#m)she shows her face to (A)ask me how I am (E)she says the kids are fine and (B)that they miss me (C#m)Maybe I could come and (A)baby-sit sometime she says, (B)"Are you O.K.? I(C#M)was worried about you. (B)Can you forgive me? I(C#m) hope that you'll be (A)happy." (E)I'm so happy that I (B)can't stop crying (C#m)I'm so happy I'm (A)laughing through my tears I saw a friend of mine. He said "I was worried about you I heard she had another man, I wondered how you felt about it?" I'm so happy that I can't stop crying I'm so happy I'm laughing through my tears Saw my lawyer, Mr. Good News he got me joint custody and legal separation I'm so happy that I can't stop crying I'm so happy I'm laughing through my tears. I'm laughing through my tears
I took a walk alone last night. I looked up at the stars to try and find an answer in my life I chose a star for me. I chose a star for him I chose two stars for my kids and one for my wife Something made me smile. Something seemed to ease the pain Something about the universe and how it's all connected
The park is full of Sunday fathers and melted ice cream we try to do the best within the given time A kid should be with his mother everybody knows that what can a father do but baby-sit sometimes? I saw that friend of mine, he said, "You look different somehow." I said, "Everybody's got to leave the darkness sometime." I'm so happy that I can't stop crying I'm so happy I'm laughing through my tears. I'm laughing through my tears
It’s Probably Me
[Em]If the night turned cold and the stars looked down And you hugh yourself on the cold cold ground You wake the [Am7] morning in a stranger's [Bm7]coat No one would you see [Em] Emadd9 Em
You ask your[Am7]self , who'd watch for me [Bm7] My only [Em] friend, who could it [Em/C#]be It's hard to [C] say it I hate to [B7]say it, but it's probably [Emmaj7]me [Em6][Em]
[Em]When your belly's empty and the hunger's so real And you're too proud to beg and too dumb to steal You search the [Am7]city for your only [Bm7]friend No one would you see [Em] Emadd9 Em
You ask your[Am7]self, who could it be[Bm7] A [Em]solitary voice to speak out and set[Em/C#] you free It's hard to [C] say it I hate to [B7]say it, but it's probably [Emmaj7]me [Em6][Em]
You're not the [Am7] easiest person I ever [D]got to know And it's [Gadd9]hard for us [G] both to let our feelings show Some would [Am7]say I should let you go[Bm7] your way You'll only [G]make me cry
If there's one [Am7]guy, just [Bm7]one guy Who'd Em lay down his life for you and [Em/C#]die
It's hard to [C] say it I hate to [B7]say it, but it's probably [Emmaj7]me [Em6][Em]
When the world's gone crazy and it makes no sense There's only one voice that comes to your defense The jury's out and your eyes search the room And one friendly face is all you need to see
If there's one [Am7]guy, just [Bm7]one guy Who'd Em lay down his life for you and [Em/C#]die
It's hard to [C] say it I hate to [B7]say it, but it's probably [Emmaj7]me [Em6][Em]
I haet to [C] say it I hate to [B7]say it, but it's probably [Emmaj7]me [Em6][Em]

Mad About You
(Am)A stone's throw from Jer(Am/C)usalem (Fmaj7)I walked a lonely mile in the moon(Eaug)light (Am)And though a million sta(Am/C)rs were shining (Fmaj)My heart was lost on a distant planet(Eaug) (Am)That whirls around the (Am/C)April moon (Fmaj)Whirling in an arc of sad(Maug)ness (Am)I'm lost without you(Am/C) (E)I'm lost without(Eaug) you
(Fmaj7)Though all my kingdoms (Dm7)turn to sand And (A dim)fall into the (E)sea I'm (Am)mad about you(Am/G) I'm (F)mad about (E)you(Am)
And from the dark secluded valleys I heard the ancient songs of sadness But every step I thought of you Every footstep only you And every star a grain of sand The leavings of a dried up ocean Tell me, how much longer? How much longer?
They say a city in the desert lies The vanity of an ancient king But the city lies in broken pieces Where the wind howls and the vultures sing These are the works of man This is the sum of our ambition It would make a prison of my life If you became another's wife
With every prison blown to dust My enemies walk free I'm mad about you I'm mad about you
(Cadd9)And I have never in my life (E7aug) Felt more alone than I(Asus4) do now Al(A#)though I claim dominions over (F)all I see (C/E)It means nothing to me There are no vic(Dm7)tories In all our (Adim)histories, without lo(E)ve (E7)

And (Fmaj7)though you hold the (Dm7)keys to ruin Of ev(Adim7)erything I (E)see With ev(Fmaj7)ery prison blo(Dm7)wn to dust, My (Adim)enemies walk fr(E)ee Though (Fmaj7)all my kingdoms tur(Dm7)n to sand And (adim7)fall into the (E)sea I'm (Am)mad about you(Am/G) I'm (F)mad about (E)you(Am)
